Reading...Writing...and Arithmetic
Each day for about 2 hours a small group of children and adults meet in an old church building in the village of Mumba to learn about reading and writing. The children are some of those who do not attend the local school perhaps because their families cannot afford the uniforms or they need to work on the family farm. The adults are mostly ladies who want to start small businesses to help support their families but find that without being able to read and do math it is very difficult.
Michael Mangazini, one of the graduates from GCDE's CHE training program has taken it upon himself to work with these people. GCDE helps with some of the training materials and Michael volunteers to teach and encourage those with a desire to learn.
